It’s that time of year when, whatever your beliefs, it’s a great excuse to kick back, relax, enjoy good food and drink and chill. So, even though we run regular car news every other day of the year, we get let off the leash to scatter to family gatherings and forget the travails of reporting the latest car news on Christmas Day. This year, just as we have in many previous years, we bring you Bernie Ecclestone’s take on Christmas 2013, the usual Bernie cartoon take on what’s been his event of the year in F1.
The new, more powerful, Aston Martin V12 Vantage S arrives
Aston Martin has been teasing something ‘Coming soon’ for a few days, and here it is – the new V12 Vantage S. The new S replaces the V12 Vantage (which we knew Aston Martin had stopped building) and gets Aston’s latest AM28 version of the venerable V12 with 565bhp and 457lb/ft of torque thanks to new engine management, combustion chambers and camshafts resulting in more power and a much flatter torque curve. The extra power has pushed the V12 S beyond the 200nph barrier, with the top speed now 205mph and, we assume, a quicker sprint to 62mph, but Aston Martin aren’t letting on how much quicker the V12 S is.
The Infiniti FX crossover gets a light makeover and a small price increase ($100) for the 2012 model year, plus a limited-edition model. The base FX35 and FX50 all-wheel-drive models will go for $44,900 and $59,350 excluding destination. The Limited Edition FX35 starts at $51,550.
